Summary of Meeting:

1. Welcome from former Chair and AGM
Rhun ap Iorwerth (RI) former Chair of the group welcomed everyone to the meeting.
The Chair said he would like to stand down and a vote was taken for a new chair for the group during the 6th Senedd.
Heledd Fychan MS (HF) was nominated by RI and HF voted as new chair.
British Council Wales agreed to continue as Secretariat for the group.
RI expressed his thanks to British Council Wales for its work as Secretariat of the group during the 5th Senedd.
HF express her thanks to RI for his chairmanship of the group.

2. Forward Work Programme Ideas for the group’s work programme were discussed and the following will be taken forward: · Inquiry into Wales’ international relations · Globally Responsible Wales · The International Learning Exchange Programme · Modern language education in Wales · Disaster Emergencies Committee Suggestions for further issues to discuss are welcome and should be sent to team.wales@britishcouncil.org
3. Actions · HF to write to the First Minister regarding UK Government aid cuts and the people’s vaccine · HF and British Council Wales to meet to discuss the design of the forward work programme · HF to discuss with Delyth Jewell MS, Chair of the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport, and International Relations Committee, how the group can add value to the committee.
The date of the next meeting, to take place in the autumn term will be sent to the group once organised.
